Mayor Lisa Borowsky announced a new initiative today aimed at improving overall compensation for officers of the Scottsdale Police Department.
Recognizing the critical role law enforcement plays in maintaining the safety and security of the community, Mayor Borowsky is prioritizing the city’s ability to attract and retain highly qualified individuals to serve in the police force.
Mayor Borowsky says the men and women of Scottsdale law enforcement deserve nothing less than a top-tier compensation package. With that in mind, she proposes an overall compensation goal of no less than falling within the top 3 of all police departments of the Valley.
“Our police officers are the backbone of our city’s safety,” Mayor Borowsky said. “They put their lives on the line every day to protect our residents, businesses and visitors. It is our duty to ensure that they are adequately compensated and supported for their dedication and service.”
Like many municipalities across the nation, Scottsdale faces challenges in attracting qualified candidates to law enforcement positions and retaining experienced officers. Competitive salaries and benefits are crucial factors in addressing these challenges.
The Scottsdale Police Department has consistently demonstrated professionalism and dedication in protecting the city’s residents and visitors. By enhancing officer compensation, the police department will be strengthened.
“Investing in our police officers is an investment in the safety and well-being of our community,” Mayor Borowsky said. “By providing competitive compensation, we can attract and retain the best and brightest to serve in our police department.”
