City Manager Greg Caton is appointing Jeff Walther to the station of assistant city manager meanwhile Joe LeDuc has been tapped as the permanent police chief of the Scottsdale Police Department.
Both public servants have been in their respective interim roles and bring decades of dedication, experience and service to the city.
“I am happy to see these appointments to these two employees who have been so dedicated to our community for such a long time,” Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky said. “Chief LeDuc has my full support as our next chief of police at the Scottsdale Police Department.”
Mr. Caton, Scottsdale city manager, echoed a similar sentiment.
“Both Jeff and Joe are deeply trusted leaders who have dedicated their careers to this community,” he said. “Their proven leadership and steadfast service made this decision an easy one. I have every confidence in their ability to continue moving Scottsdale forward.”
Chief LeDuc brings more than 33 years of experience with the Scottsdale Police Department to his new role. He became a police officer in 1991 and served as a patrol officer, property crimes and homicide detective, and member of the DEA Task Force.
Promoted to assistant chief of police in 2021, Chief LeDuc has worked alongside Mr. Walther to shape the department’s strategic direction, while collaborating with city departments and regional partners.
Jeff Walther, who now joins the city manager’s office as a permanent assistant city manager, is a 30-year police department veteran who has served as police chief since 2020.
Recognized as Arizona’s “Chief of the Year” in 2022 and recipient of the 2024 City of Scottsdale Bill Donaldson Award, Mr. Walther is known for his strategic leadership and unwavering commitment to community service.
