Scottsdale’s tourism industry continues to shine as a cornerstone of the city’s economy, generating an impressive $3.7 billion in economic impact in calendar year 2024, according to the city’s latest annual tourism analysis.

The report, led by Scottsdale’s Tourism and Events Department, highlights a thriving visitor economy that supported more than 36,000 local jobs in hospitality and related sectors.

More than 11 million visitors explored Scottsdale in 2024, including 4.9 million domestic overnight travelers, 1.7 million international overnight visitors, and 5.1 million day-trippers. These figures reflect year-over-year growth, with domestic visitation up 3% and international visitation up 8%, the tourism and development report states.

“This report confirms what we already know — Scottsdale is a world-class destination,” Mayor Lisa Borowsky said. “Our tourism and events division and Experience Scottsdale continue to do an excellent job showcasing the best of our city. Their work ensures that Scottsdale remains a top choice for travelers from around the globe.”

Scottsdale’s appeal lies in its unique blend of outdoor adventure, luxury accommodations and cultural experiences.

Signature events such as the WM Phoenix Open, Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, and San Francisco Giants Spring Training draw visitors year-round. Popular activities include shopping, dining, arts and culture, hiking, and golf, with attractions like the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, and Canal Convergence continuing to captivate guests.

In fiscal year 2024-25, the city invested approximately $54.7 million in municipal services for visitors. That investment paid off, with visitor-generated tax revenue exceeding costs by $22.8 million — a return of $1.42 for every $1 spent.

“Tourism doesn’t just benefit our economy — it supports our small businesses and enhances the quality of life for our residents in tangible aspects, such as maintaining low property taxes and providing beautiful resident amenities such as our many parks and entertainment venues,” Mayor Borowsky said.

“I’m proud of the collaborative efforts that make Scottsdale a vibrant, welcoming city.”
