A community call for volunteer support at the Scottsdale mayor’s office
Staff Writer | Mayor of Scottsdale
The office of Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky is issuing a call for applications from dedicated citizens interested in volunteering their time and skills to help support the mayor’s office.
Want to apply? Go HERE.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected candidates will be contacted for an interview by Chief of Staff Terrance Thornton, who can be reached at tthornton@scottsdaleaz.gov.
In a bizarre, last-minute political maneuver, the mayor’s office was stripped of its integral administrative support and scheduler position by way of a motion initiated by Councilwoman Kathy Littlefield, and supported by Councilmembers Barry Graham, Adam Kwasman and Jan Dubauskas — all of which had urged the same politically charged action previously.
This decision intentionally diminishes the ability of the mayor’s office to attend to constituent requests in the most productive fashion possible; an unfortunate result for local residents.
“Our city thrives on the active participation of its residents. Fortunately, volunteers are the backbone of many successful initiatives and outcomes here in Scottsdale,” Mayor Borowsky said. “I encourage all interested individuals to apply and join us in making a tangible difference in our community.”
The mayor’s office is seeking volunteers to assist with:
- Administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and organizing documents.
- Answer phone calls, fielding emails and directing calls to the appropriate staff members.
- Greeting visitors and providing general information about the mayor’s office.
- Support event planning and execution, which may involve preparing materials, setting up, and assisting attendees.
- Conduct research on various topics as requested by staff.
- Help with special projects assigned by the mayor’s staff.
Mayor Borowsky says she is looking for candidates who possess a strong commitment to public service, a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and a dedication to unwavering service for the betterment of Scottsdale.
The office of Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky is dedicated to serving the citizens of Scottsdale by fostering community engagement, promoting responsible governance and working towards a prosperous future.
